Terms of Service
Last Updated: August 13, 2026
Introduction
Dining Buddy is an AI-powered restaurant discovery service operated by Dining Buddy Inc. These Terms of Service govern your use of diningbuddy.ca. By using Dining Buddy, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Dining Buddy is in public beta. Features, availability, and data practices may change as we continue to develop the service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Dining Buddy. If you are between 13 and 18, you may use the service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
The Service
Dining Buddy provides conversational restaurant search. You describe what you are looking for, including cuisine, vibe, budget, or occasion, and the service returns recommendations. Results are recommendations, not guarantees. Restaurant hours, menus, prices, availability, and other details can change. Verify important details directly with the restaurant.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access during the beta. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features when reasonably needed to operate, secure, or improve Dining Buddy.
Accounts and Sign-In
Chat access requires a Dining Buddy account created through Google or Apple. Your use of either sign-in provider is also subject to that provider's terms. Provider outages, account restrictions, or changes to provider services can affect your ability to sign in.
You are responsible for activity under your account and for maintaining control of your sign-in provider account and devices. Do not share an authenticated browser session with someone who should not have access to your conversation history. Tell us promptly if you believe your Dining Buddy account has been used without permission.
We may suspend or restrict access when reasonably necessary to address security risks, misuse, legal requirements, or violations of these terms.
AI-Powered Features
Dining Buddy uses AI and search providers to understand queries and produce restaurant recommendations. AI output can be incomplete or inaccurate. Always verify details that affect allergies, dietary needs, health, pricing, reservations, or travel directly with the restaurant. Dining Buddy is not professional dietary, medical, legal, or financial advice.
Dining Buddy does not use your conversations to train its own AI models. Conversation content is processed by the providers described in our Privacy Policy under the service terms that apply to Dining Buddy's provider accounts.
Restaurant Information and Third-Party Content
Restaurant data and web results can come from Google Maps, Google Places, restaurant websites, public web sources, and other providers. We do not control their completeness or accuracy. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not make Dining Buddy responsible for those sites, their content, or their services.
Acceptable Use
When using Dining Buddy, you agree not to:
- Use the service for an unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, or abusive purpose
- Attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits, or security measures
- Interfere with the service or another person's use of it
- Access another person's account or conversations without permission
- Scrape, probe, or automate requests in a way that burdens or damages the service
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
Intellectual Property
Dining Buddy's software, restaurant database, branding, and visual design are owned by Dining Buddy Inc. or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the service except where law permits or we give written permission.
You retain your rights in the messages you submit. You give Dining Buddy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, reproduce, and analyze those messages only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service.
Your Data and Communications
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and retain information. We do not sell personal information.
You can request account deletion through the account page or by contacting us. A request enters a 30-day cooling-off period before hard deletion. Signing in during that period cancels the request and restores the account. Limited records may be retained when reasonably needed for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or legal claims.
You can withdraw marketing consent through account settings, the unsubscribe link in a marketing email, or a request to contact@diningbuddy.ca. Service messages needed to operate or secure your account are not marketing messages.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" during the beta, without warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law.
Dining Buddy Inc. is not responsible for inaccurate restaurant information, decisions based on recommendations, third-party services, service interruptions, or data loss, except where applicable law does not allow that exclusion. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising from the service is limited to $100 CAD. This limitation does not exclude liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes, Governing Law, and Contact
We may update these terms as Dining Buddy changes. We will update the date shown on this page and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your rights or obligations. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions can be sent to contact@diningbuddy.ca.
